Kathryn and Davey are stumbling through their twenties together, struggling with unfulfilling jobs and unformed personal identities. When tragedy strikes and each experiences the loss of a parent, the friends are forced to hit the road with some unconventional cargo and a hitman on their tail. Along the way, their own insecurities and traumas threaten to derail the journey.

Filmed over the pandemic in 2021, PATER MATER is the feature debut of Daniel Shaykevich and Bronwyn Scott, and was shot on top of their full time graduate work. It’s a truly independent production shot entirely on locations around the Bay, and put together by many talented and dedicated hands.
