SF Indiefest: Cherry & From Water Comes Melon

Cherry
When 25-year-old Cherry discovers she is ten weeks pregnant, she has a few urgent decisions to make. Drifting between her job at the costume shop, rollerblading dance team, semi-serious boyfriend, and still living with her parents, the young protagonist is caught between a curiosity for motherhood and a desire to follow her unfulfilled dreams. Inspired by the likes of Agnès Varda, Noah Baumbach, and Andrea Arnold, Sophie Galibert’s debut feature is a bold, bright love letter to not quite having life figured out yet, and is a reminder of the rights and empowerment women deserve over their bodies. Directed by Sophie Gailbert, 76 minutes.

From Water Comes Melon
As Mother Nature’s ice cream melts, the last watermelon washes ashore, forcing a woman to choose between love or inescapable doom. Directed by Micah Vassau, 13 minutes.
