FRESH BLACK FILMS is a dynamic selection of short films celebrating Black stories and
filmmakers from all across the USA. Created to bring increased attention to the next generation
of independent filmmakers, whose imaginative sensibilities and aesthetics can eventually make
them internationally known, FRESH BLACK FILMS is South Carolina-based The Luminal
Theater’s curated series that connects audiences with bold new films that run the gamut of
emotions and enable you to see the world differently.

LOST TAPES OF ANTIGUA 2029 | Odessa Whitlock (Experimental)
In early 2029, while visiting her family in Antigua, a woman begins having recurring glimpses of
a catastrophic hurricane that may hit her island. The only family still based in Antigua is her
strong and healthy 94 year old grandmother, whom she wants to warn, but struggles with the
choices in front of her.

GRIEVE DIFFERENT | Justus Anderson (Drama)
After isolating themselves following the death of their friend, two young men finally have a
conversation about how they’ve been feeling – and one of them is about to make a decision he
is sure to regret.

A combination of dark humor and stop motion collage cutout animation that explores the woes

Andrew and Toni’s quest for entertainment transforms into a battle against an app that blurs
reality. As they race against time, they fall into a twisted fusion of virtual immersion, friendship, and the dark side of technology.
