The Bloodettes

Director Jean-Pierre Bekolo will be present for an introduction!

Bekolo’s most popular film, The Bloodettes deepens his social commentary on Cameroonian politics while dipping further into genre territory. After one of their high-profile clients dies on the job, two sex workers come up with a plan to dispose of the body. As other politicians try and use the situation to their advantage, the women decide to set out to rid the country of its corrupt, predatory men using an ancient ritual known as Mevoungou. An early Afro-Futurust fable set in a – no longer distant – futuristic Cameroon of 2025, The Bloodettes is one of Bekolo’s most stylistically daring and avant-garde works.
