Les éclats (ma gueule, ma révolte, mon nom)
The Outbursts (My mouth, my revolt, my name)
A companion film to Georges’ first feature, May They Rest in Revolt (2011), The Outbursts follows migrants in Calais as they attempt to cross into England. “Fragments of voices, laughter and rage; snatches of words, images and memory; the words near and far, from yesterday, from today; the breath of the wind, the gesture of the sun at the sunset, the reflections red-blood; the raids of the police, processions warriors, court of injustice… For a map of the violence inflicted on migrants, the repetition of the colonialism, and the unacceptability of the “world as it is.” Winner of the Prize of the Best Film International Competition Torino Film Festival 2011.
Preceded by the shorts No Border (2008, 23’) and Nocturne White Hunter (2015, 23’). Sylvain George in person for a Q&A after the screening.
Screening as part of NO BORDER: The Films of Sylvain George, a multi-day retrospective playing across the Bay Area.
