BloodSisters
“A queer classic ahead of its time.” – Indiewire
We are delighted to once again screen the 1990’s leatherdyke classic Bloodsisters for Folsom Leather week. This is a fundraiser for the Ms. San Francisco Leather Contest. The film will be preceded by a very rare treat: a smoking hot short film by none other than THE Georgia Wright. Stellium in Capricorn is ”a visually luscious glimpse into the pleasures of temporary piercings, burning and ropework – capturing the trust, focus, and tenderness of this intimate scene of two couples at play.”
Show up in your best BDSM gear, cruise the hottest leatherdykes around and (maybe even) enjoy a thoughtful Q&A led by real live in-person leatherdykes!
During the early 1990s, San Francisco was the epicenter of body modification and gender nonconformity, with transgender pioneers like Patrick Califia and Tala Brandeis fighting for visibility, alongside the voice of a bold S/M community. Michelle Handelman’s provocative and pioneering documentary Bloodsisters captures these queer outlaws in their zeitgeist moment, shot on digital video with an unfiltered rawness that mirrors the activism of the era.
From pushy bottoms to macho femmes, Bloodsisters is an A-Z documentary guide that shatters assumptions about gender and lesbian sexuality.
