The discovery of a sixty-foot hole on Mount Shasta implicates a small town’s unusual local mythology in a bizarre unsolved crime. Weaving together an offbeat detective story, a pseudo-archaeological adventure, and a coming-of-age thriller, The Hole Story ultimately forms a portrait of a community in spiritual decline, and a paranoid fable about the human cost of misinformation.
