The Roxie Theater is dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. This Code of Conduct applies to everyone including patrons, guests, staff, volunteers, and vendors.

All guests have the right to enjoy our programs and activities free of harassment, threats, mistreatment, or discrimination. We reserve the right to revoke access to any of our screenings and events for anyone who does not adhere to our code of conduct.

  • Harassment will not be tolerated against guests, patrons, volunteers or theater staff. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: bullying, intimidation, stalking, or threats; the use of epithets, slurs, or negative stereotyping; violence or assault of any kind; inappropriate or unwanted physical contact; physical intimidation or blocking; unwelcome sexual attention, innuendo, or joking; comments or actions that minimize a person’s lived experience, identity, or safety; deliberate outing, misgendering, refusal to respect someone’s gender identity.
  • No use of cell phones or other electronic devices during a screening, unless it is to use or adjust personal accessibility aides. This includes smart watches or other wearable tech.
  • No disruptive or distracting behavior. This can include: loud and/or frequent talking, inebriation, or poor personal hygiene.
  • Intoxication: Anyone who is visibly intoxicated will be asked to leave or refused a ticket.
  • Personal belongings: We would prefer that no large bags, suitcases, skateboards, bicycles, or scooters are brought into the theater. If they must be brought, they need to be left in the lobby where they won’t obstruct the seating and aisles in the auditorium. Roxie Staff are not responsible for these items.
  • Be kind and respectful: We foster a kind and respectful environment for productive discussion, free from bullying or trolling. We do not tolerate hurtful language, discrimination, abuse, marginalization, or insulting behavior on the grounds of gender, ethnicity, religion, background, skin color, religious belief, sexuality, gender identity, socio-economic class, caste, disability, age or any other historically marginalized identity.
