Almost Midnights: After Hours

When an uptown New Yorker innocently meets a downtown girl, he’s irresistibly drawn into a vortex of wild, malevolent, and increasingly paranoid adventures in Martin Scorsese’s After Hours. After striking up a conversation with the enigmatic Marcy (Rosanna Arquette) at a neighborhood café, mild-mannered word processor Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) accepts an invitation to visit her SoHo loft. Nothing in Paul’s ordinary life has prepared him for the surreal encounters that await: Marcy’s eccentric artist roommate Kiki (Linda Fiorentino); cocktail waitress Julie (Teri Garr); ice cream vendor Gail (Catherine O’Hara); June (Verna Bloom), who lives beneath a neighborhood nightclub; and Mark (Robert Plunkett), a bartender eager for his first gay experience. As one bizarre mishap leads to another, Paul longs only for the safety of his Upper East Side apartment—but will he ever make it home?
