Frameline50: Test

Set in the world of amateur bodybuilding, Test follows small town dreamer Eddie (Brock Yurich, also delivering his feature screenwriting debut) as he pursues his ambition of physical perfection and a career in bodybuilding. Living with his emotionally demanding mother (Tony nominee Tammy Blanchard) and earning money as a cam model, he channels his emotional burdens into devotion to his body. When he gains the help of a trustworthy coach and rekindles an old love, things begin to look towards a promising future. But his focus is broken in a moment of unexpected queer awakening.

Burdened with religious guilt brought by his pastor (Glee’s Matthew Morrison) and his mother’s struggles, Eddie must reconcile his ambition with his deepest emotional truths as he faces his most important competition yet. Test is a sexy and visceral character study of body and spirit that seductively defies sports genre conventions.
