The Story of Slint

Psyched! Fest Presents: Breadcrumb Trail with Lance Bangs & David Pajo

Psyched! Fest San Francisco returns this October and invites you to join us for a matinee of music cinema here at The Roxie. For the festival’s inaugural film program, Psyched! Films proudly presents Breadcrumb Trail: The Story of Slint, followed by a special Q&A session with filmmaker Lance Bangs and Slint guitarist David Pajo.

Breadcrumb Trail details the origins of American alternative rock band Slint and the Louisville music culture they emerged from.

The feature length documentary hones in and demystifies the pivotal landscape leading up to and surrounding the making of Slint’s seminal album, Spiderland, and features appearances from former band members, their family and friends, Steve Albini and Brian Paulson. Intimately weaving together rare footage unearthed from the early nineties along with interviews from their musical contemporaries, Breadcrumb Trail provides a lens into the creative circumstances that paved the way for one of the most consequential albums in alternative rock history.

Bangs is known for his work on Jackass, Portlandia, the feature films Slow Century, The Elephant 6 Recording Co., Pavements, along with his extensive career as a music documentarian and creating music videos Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Neutral Milk Hotel, Green Day, Arcade Fire, The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie, The Black Keys, Odd Future, Pavement, MJ Lenderman, Joe Strummer, and George Harrison, among others.
