“Time Capsule of 1970’s San Francisco, unfolding like a thriller.”
G.Allen Johnson – The S.F. Chronicle

A riveting portrait of Sara Jane Moore, a single mother from suburban San Francisco who, in 1975, attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford. More than a historical account, it’s an intimate character study and chilling reflection on America’s ideological fracture.

Structured around exclusive access to Moore, Robinson Devor’s (The Woman Chaser, Police Beat, Zoo) new film unfolds through first-person monologue in Bay Area locations tied to her political radicalization and association with the Black Panthers, the Symbionese Liberation Army, and her involvement with the Patty Hearst kidnapping, interwoven with rare archival and a stylized imagined dialogue with her FBI handler.

A pugnacious and unapologetic interview subject, Moore holds the center of a fleet and compelling nonfiction drama with the feel of a 1970s thriller. With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination attempt, Suburban Fury resonates urgently now, offering no easy answers—only a singular vantage point inside a fractured mind and country.

A refraction of history through a uniquely warped prism, to nonetheless revelatory effect.
Richard Brody – The New Yorker

The most satisfying and rewarding aspect of “Suburban Fury” is its wealth of wonderful archival footage. The clips of national politicians and news events, juxtaposed with footage of radical Bay Area political groups, are a joy to behold, as are the street scenes of San Francisco and Oakland in the tempestuous 1970s.” – Rae Alexandra, KQED
