Beautiful Nightmares
All listed screenings take place at NEW PEOPLE CINEMA, located at 1746 Post Street in Japantown.
Take a trip into some of the strangest and most beautiful corners of Japanese horror cinema. The series kicks off at The Roxie with the new restoration of Masaki Kobayashi’s haunting Kwaidan, then moves to New People Cinema in Japantown for the candy-colored delirium of Hausu, the new ghost story Never After Dark starring Shōgun’s Moeka Hoshi, the newly restored descent into hell Jigoku, and the delirious teen-gothic shocker The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch.
The Roxie returns to New People Cinema this fall for a special season of Japanese cinema, community events, filmmaker appearances, special screenings, and select rentals. More on New People here.
