“Resistance Film Festival to spotlight classics that celebrate, dramatize struggle to preserve democracy”- Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

This festival was born in the wake of the 2024 election and what it clearly means for millions of Americans. For a great many, concern turned to outright anxiety on November 5, as an enveloping sense of powerlessness suddenly became the norm. What could any one individual do when more than half the entire country seemed to blindly endorse reckless authoritarianism on Election Day? It’s our great hope that THE RESISTANCE FILM FESTIVAL presents a reinvigorated vision of democracy which can once again begin to grow anew in the corrupted soil of our divided nation. The FOUR FILMS selected for this exciting event should serve not only as a simple cinematic salvo for our shattered senses and battered hopes, but also as an optimistic blueprint for rebuilding a restored American democracy.

Programmed exclusively by former Roxie programmer, Elliot Lavine, who will appear at all screenings to introduce the films. He will also be presenting a version of this festival in Portland shortly after.

General admission is $15. All shows are free or discounted for Roxie members. Get a 4-film pass and see any 4 of the films included in the series for only $45.00! If you purchase a 4-film pass, this will be available pick up at the box office starting January 18. You will only be able to redeem your tickets at the box office when presenting the pass. Tickets will be held for pass holders for all screenings.
