COLOMBIA ON FILM: resistencia en tránsito (resistance in motion)
Presented by CiNEOLA and co-presented by RoxCine, the third annual COLOMBIA ON FILM series returns to the Roxie Theater on November 15 and 16. Join us as we immerse ourselves in stories portraying the collective identity and history of Colombia with emerging filmmaker voices at the center of each program.
This year’s edition highlights stories of resistencia en tránsito (resistance in motion). From the deserts of Uribia, Colombia, to the ruins of the Andes in Nariño, and the carnation fields of La Sabana de Bogotá, each program leads us to manifestations of resistance: struggles for labor rights, critiques of imperialism, and validation of Indigenous and trans identities. Through a mix of silent film, restorations, and new non-fiction works, resistencia en tránsito (resistance in motion) invites us to move toward resistance today.

Acompáñanos a un festival de historias que retratan la identidad colectiva y la historia de Colombia, con voces de cineastas emergentes al centro de cada programa.
La edición de este año destaca historias de resistencia en tránsito. Desde los desiertos de Uribia, Colombia, hasta las ruinas andinas de Nariño y los campos de claveles en la Sabana de Bogotá, cada programa nos conduce hacia manifestaciones de resistencia: luchas por los derechos laborales, críticas al imperialismo y la validación de identidades indígenas y trans. A través de una mezcla de cine silente, restauraciones y nuevas obras de no ficción, resistencia en tránsito nos invita a movernos hacia la resistencia hoy.
CiNEOLA es una plataforma para documentales latinoamericanos que acerca diversas representaciones de la región, su historia y sus culturas a audiencias en el Área de la Bahía y más allá a través de proyecciones, distribución en línea y contenido original.
